World Rally Championship megastar Craig Breen comes back to Rallyday
Updated: Oct 1, 2021

Fresh from back-to-back World Rally Championship podiums at Rally Estonia and Renties Ypres Rally Belgium, Hyundai Motorsport star Craig Breen will return to this month’s Rallyday.
As well as being among the world’s fastest rally drivers, Craig is definitely one of the world’s biggest rally fans. It’s for that reason that he’s making his way to Castle Combe on Saturday September 25.
The Irishman is one of the most talked-about drivers in the WRC right now and joins Rallyday shortly before flying out to Helsinki for Rally Finland, where he will drive a factory Hyundai i20 Coupe WRC.
“I love events like Rallyday,” said Craig. “I was there the last time it ran in 2019 and I wouldn’t miss this one. When you see the number and the calibre of cars that are going to be at Castle Combe this month, it’s an easy decision to want to go there.”
Remembering Richard Burns 20 years on from his 2001 World Rally Championship title is almost as important for Craig.
“I never met Richard and obviously never competed against him,” he said, “but he’s a driver I’ve always admired and heard so many amazing stories about. To be able to see cars from all the way through his career and to listen to more stories from the people who were with him and around him will make for a special day.
“I think everybody knows, this sport is my life. As well as the here and now in the World Rally Championship, I love the history of our sport and having a look at some of the best cars from down the decades is going to be great.”
Castle Combe managing director Graham Marshallsay is delighted to welcome Craig back to Rallyday.
Graham said: “Everybody loves Craig. His passion for the sport and his knowledge of the sport is, for me, unrivaled – we saw that when he was here last time. He was everywhere, looking at everything. Since then we’ve seen even more exceptional performances in the world championship – his speed on rallies so different in nature as Estonia and Ypres in the last month or so has just been fantastic.
“It’s a genuine privilege to have a driver of Craig’s standing with us on the day. He’s always welcome here, he’s among friends and fans alike and we’re looking forward to a great day with him.”
